Grant Robinson’s thoughts and findings on design, games and digitalia

This from the seller:
“When I opened the package. The phone was on. There were no cute buttons, no touch screen… Instead, there was a blurry image of Steve Jobs burned into it.”
More info here. Pity it was pulled by eBay. Why I wonder? If only Fake Steve Jobs was still around, I’m sure he’d have a thing or two to say about this.

Just a thought on your “Guess the google” game…fun game annoying that all it says at the end is “the correct answer started with __”

Hi Jim, you’re not the first person to comment on that. The reason I don’t give away the answers is that there isn’t actually that many keywords used by the game, so if I gave them away it wouldn’t take too many game before you will have leant the whole set off by heart – making it too easy to get very high scores. Thanks for your interest though!

Just a thought on your “Travelr” app…it’s really nice but now Flickr integrates its own geotagging system. Would you accept to share the source code of Travelr so that I can try to update it with the new API methods dealing with geo information?
Thanks!

@Spririt. Yes I think I’m ready to release the source code for Travelr. I’ll try to post it in the next few days.

Hi, sorry to bother you as you seem to have a lot of work with makeitshareit.com (nice site by the way, too bad my drawing skills are awful), do you have any news regarding the release of Travelr source code ? Thanks a million.

@ spirit – I’ve (finally) uploaded the source code here: http://grant.robinson.name/projects/travelr/. It’s been years since I’ve worked on it so it’ll be interesting to see how you get on with. Please let me know if you have any problems.

Guess-the-Google has me hooked. Curses!
I noticed something weird, though. After getting two in a row (“windows” and “mouse”) on my first guess, it showed me the exact same set of images I’d just seen for “windows”, and when I failed to guess it, it said the word began with “m”. Coincidence or bug?

@ kevin – sounds like a bug actually. I’ll look into it.

hi Grant, i’ve had a request from a teacher in the school i work at to enable your guess the google game for her classes to use. while it works fine for staff, kid’s accounts will let the game start but it freezes when trying to load the first set of images. i’ve tried forcing open the site through our filters but it hasn’t helped. do you have any suggestions? thanks
